More than “accessible items” - integrating environments!

Other companies see a child in a wheelchair and provide an elevated sandbox; Grounds For Play sees the emotional needs of the child and provides an integrated sand experience. While the elevated sandbox provides access to sand, the child needs access to play! ...with his peers! ...in an integrated setting!

Our corner chair is one small innovation that points out a BIG difference in our approach: Allowing children with special needs to be “one of the guys”, not relegated to the fringes or to using only the “adaptive equipment”.

We start with a “listening” approach, analyzing the site, interviewing the staff, teachers, or community leaders who will be working with children, and getting to know the needs of the children.
Then we use what you tell us to design the play environment, taking into account over 40 factors that determine the direction of the design*.
We provide accurately scaled site plans for the whole play environment (not just the equipment) and many site construction details are reviewed with the customer.

Unique equipment can be custom designed and built, tailored to the site and to the particular IEP (Individual Educational Plan) in place for the children.

*Although Grounds For Play can handle all your design needs, our design department can work closely with a customer’s architect or playground designer, to provide technical assistance, product design, and project management services. Simply have your architect or designer contact us, and we’ll assist or lead in the design process.

Grounds For Play provides “full-service“ playground development, from design through site preparation, safety surfacing, landscaping and paved pathways. It is this seamless integrated approach that makes truly integrating environments possible.

The coordination of the various aspects of the process—from design to construction to final staff training—makes Grounds For Play your best source for playground development.
