Interview
At Grounds For Play, your design team understands that the best starting point for creating your play environment is with you. As the leader of your playground project, your intimate knowledge (of your facility, staff, local regulations, growth needs, budget, and especially of your children) is invaluable to the planning phase. Therefore, we start by interviewing you as soon as possible to collect this information and to give you insight into the entire design process at Grounds For Play.
Planning Checklist.
Measurement
Another key body of information needed to plan well is in the physical characteristics of your playground. Measurements of the grounds should include perimeters, interior fencing, trees, utilities (where visible), changes in elevation, and other structural elements. As a custom design/build firm, these site details do not restrict what is possible so much as they may influence where key play functions and structures can best be located.
Site Plan
Only after the first two steps have been taken do we have enough information to generate a site plan and project proposal for your playground environment. This site plan is provided to you in a professional CAD drawing, containing a wealth of construction details, surfacing suggestions, and educational tips. The project proposal will include itemized costs for equipment, surfacing materials, installation, other services, and shipping — everything you will need to make informed decisions.
